Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, struggling with relationships, navigating a difficult life transition, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and consider how we might work together. There is no pressure to share everything at once.
What if I've never been to therapy before?
Many people feel uncertain before their first session. You don't need to know exactly what to say or where to begin. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will move at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.
How often do sessions take place?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions, although the frequency can be adjusted depending on your needs, goals, and circumstances.
How long is a session?
Standard therapy sessions last 60 minutes. 90-minute sessions are also available when additional time may be beneficial.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients seek support around a specific challenge and attend for a relatively short period, while others choose to engage in longer-term work focused on deeper patterns and personal growth.
What approaches do you use?
My work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and trauma-informed approaches. I tailor therapy to each person's needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.
Will therapy involve talking about my past?
Sometimes. Understanding past experiences can be helpful, particularly when they continue to affect your present life. However, therapy does not need to focus exclusively on the past. Together, we will decide what feels most relevant and helpful.
Can therapy help if I don't know exactly what's wrong?
Yes. Many people come to therapy with a general sense that something feels difficult, overwhelming, or out of balance, even if they cannot clearly identify the problem. Therapy can help create clarity and understanding.
Is everything I share confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of therapy. Information shared in sessions is kept private, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions that will be explained during our work together.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. Sessions are available online, allowing you to access therapy from a comfortable and private environment. You can use the contact form below to get in touch.
